On May 26th, 2011 my heart almost stopped beating. Being persistent and devoted to work by my nature, I had no clue that a banal thing such as not overcoming a virus can strike a violent blow. While for me it was arealitydifficult to accept, doctors pointed to the only possible solution: heart transplantation. From that moment on, my life came down to a battle.
This year in March, my heart weakened so much, that I had almost lost battle for life – EF (Ejection Fraction) of only 18%.
With tremendous gratitude to an incredible man, dr Bojan Bagi and his team of anesthetics and reanimation, I was saved.
On March 21st, 2015 they ripped me out of the jaws of death and stabilized my condition, and with recognition of dr Bićanin Goran, I was received at Clinical Center of Serbia (KCS - Klinički Centar Srbije). Their team of experts, headed by prof. dr Miljko Ristić and dr Emilija Nestorović, implanted me a mechanical heart pump.
It temporarily extended my life and gave me hope that I will live till the needed transplantation. In Serbia, opportunity for the transplantation is diminished to a minimum.
I have succeeded to live till the first birthday of my second son and I cannot describe how happy I was. It is my desire to be with them for a long, long time. For me to stay with my family, heart transplantation at AKH Clinic in Vienna is unavoidable. For this operation we need €120.000. Since my family and I aren’t in a position to procure such funds, we have decided to go on a path of fundraising, as a step forward in this battle for life.
I was born on April 16th, 1969 in Čantavir. I had the good fortune to live in some of the most beautiful cities of former Yugoslavia: Subotica, Novi Sad, Sarajevo and Dubrovnik. In the disastrous war of 1990s, we have lost everything what my parents built throughout their life. In 1993 we exile from Sarajevo to Subotica, where I practically started building my life from scratch.
I graduated at the local University, got a job and just as I settled in my hometown and started a family, this distress struck upon me.
At the end of my words, I ask you not to lose faith in yourself and your power to change things.
I alone know it very well how unforeseen life can be and how important it is to seize every opportunity in life, in the best possible way.
I yearn to win this battle with your help and stay with my family, they need me and I need them! And always remember the answer to the question “What is the greatest human power of all?”- Hope!
Stay prosperous, in health and happiness,
